Left Handed Advantages
Although there are many myths, left handed people do have some advantages over right handers. Our brains are organized so the right hemisphere controls our left hand. This means we are more ‘right brained’ (on average!).
Left Handed Advantages:
The left hemisphere is called the linear thinking mode and controls logic, science, math, and speech.
- Sports: Left handers have many advantages in sports. Some advantages cant be explained, but others can. The main advantage is simply being the unusual. Left handers in baseball have had success in part because batters aren’t as used to the angle the ball is thrown. In games such as tennis, fencing, and many others, left handers have the advantage of matching their opposite handed opponent.
- Learning: Although there are many studies stating left handers and right handers differ in learning, there is no conclusive evidence. Because on average left handers are more right brained, there are many studies that show an advantage in the following areas: logic, science, math, and speech.
- Fighting!: Yes, left handers have tend to be better fighters. Since many professional (and unprofessional) fighters spend most of their time practicing against right handed opponents, there is more of a surprise element.

Left handed tools have always been tough to find for left handed people. Most left handers have decided that it’s easier to use right handed tools then find their own.
Whether you are looking for some kind of electric saw, chainsaw, or lawnmower there are virtually no options for left handed people. The use of these types of equipment by left handers can actually be quite dangerous. There is an amazing 50,000 estimated accidents each year by left handers using right handed equipment.
